Adteractive was a performance-based advertising and marketing company in San Francisco focused on lead generation for its clients and partners. They generated customer acquisitions and billed for each new prospective lead on a CPA basis.
After I was hired in 2007 Adteractive received it’s first ever venture capital investment of $5.1M and was valued at over $125M. Later that year the company was investigated by the FTC though. Since then, I sometimes wonder if my visual design work or marketing design direction (in combination with their aggressive media buyers and marketing managers) was too strong or too successful. It might be possible, my work somehow contributed to the FTC taking notice and the investigation which eventually led to the company being shut down later that year.
